The Rotarian's 4-WAY TEST of the things we think, say or do
-----------------------
1. Is it the TRUTH?
2. Is it FAIR to all concerned?
3. Will it build GOODWILL and better FRIENDSHIPS?
4. Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned?

Summertime and the sound of music fills the air! In the early 1980's, a Rotarian had a dream to construct a band shell for live music concerts during the summer. That Rotarian was Willie J. Ferrero! He oversaw the construction of the band shell, attended all the concerts, made the contacts with the bands and involved all the members of the Rotary Club. Twenty-three years later, the 2008 Concert Series continues with eight concerts and a $1000 scholarship established by the Rotary Club in memory of Willie J. Ferrero who died in 2007. We thank him for his dedicated service and his willingness to see a 'dream' come true in giving to others. May the music fill all our hearts and our minds. Paul D. Hrdlicka President, 2007- 2008

The Rotary Club of East Longmeadow has initiated a new speaker’s gift program to thank guest speakers who speak at the Club’s weekly meetings. Guest speakers are asked to select a book from a “wish list” compiled by the East Longmeadow Public Library’s Children’s Department. The Club then donates the selected book to the Library on behalf of the guest speaker. Once the Library receives the book, a bookplate is affixed to the book stating that the book has been donated by the Rotary Club of East Longmeadow on behalf of the named speaker. The bookplate also includes the date that the speaker addressed the club. The book is then shelved at the Library, and becomes part of the Library’s permanent collection and is available for circulation. Not only does this new program provide a permanent “Thank you” to Club speakers, but it joins the Club’s Dictionary Project as a means by which the Club can promote literacy in the community..
